Barest - born from a dream of two passionate women
We are Ode and Mirje, the founders of Barest. Though we live on opposite sides of Estonia, we were brought together by the shared dream: to change the world, one pair of shoes at a time.
Regular shoes often harm people’s feet, while barefoot shoes support natural health and comfort in a way you can only understand after trying them. With Barest, we want to take this further by adding elegance and beauty to the barefoot experience.
Ode is the creative soul and product designer, shaping each pair with care and an eye for detail. Mirje brings her background in business and technology to help turn our shared vision into reality. Together, we balance creativity and structure, passion and precision.
It has taken us a while to get here. We started as strangers with a common dream and have become friends along the way. And it’s still only the beginning… We can’t wait for the next chapters. New models are already in the works and we’re so excited to share them with you soon.

Name of the project: Launching the barefoot shoe brand Barest.
During the two-year project period, we aim to:
- Achieve monthly sales of 150 pairs of shoes (with a five-year plan to reach sales of at least 400 pairs per month);
- develop at least 1 new model per year;
- become a well-known barefoot shoe brand in Estonia and neighboring countries.
Amount of the grant: €20,000.
